Old School Sk8boards... 80's style.
I enjoy the nostalgia of 80's skateboarding, skateboards, and skateboard graphics. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed, but if I had a bunch of money, I would definitely buy all of the boards that I want.... my collection would be so dope! But, for now I have to settle with hacked up boards, or I make the board myself and copy the graphic on by hand. I am also starting to take the "hacked" boards and restore them. It's a fun hobby and I just love how it brings me back to the days when the only worry I had was being home by curfew. I have my favorite boards and graphics showcased on this site, along with my own personal collection. I am searching high and low for good, hi-res pics of boards and graphics. Right now I do a lot of photoshop work to isolate boards and graphics from backgrounds, etc. ( if you know of a good site, or a good place to buy old Thrasher Magazines, or pictures please let me know). I started off not knowing anything about the skateboard collecting "sub-culture." I was having my students make skateboards as an after school activity and made a couple boards myself. I would put the graphics of the old boards that I loved on the ones I made by using carbon paper and paint, sharpies, or paint pens. It was great! Now that I am a little older and have a little more money, I have started to buy the real things. When they need to be restored, it makes for a great hobby. Even when they don't need to be restored it makes for a great hobby... I spend hours a week searching Ebay and blogs.
